Livingston, CA (April 14, 2014) – The 250 West Coast Supercross series resumed this past weekend in Houston, Texas at NRG Stadium. The 51FIFTY Energy Drink Yamaha team arrived mid-week for various media functions and the highlight was certainly Austin Politelli’s first-ever Heat Race win.

Carlos Vieira, 51FIFTY Energy Drink owner, is a passionate supporter of autism awareness and founder of the Race for Autism. As April is Autism Awareness Month this round was particularly important for promoting the cause. Politelli’s #981 YZ250F sported a one-off puzzle piece graphic kit provided by Magik Kustom Graphics.

Politelli participated in numerous events promoting the Race for Autism including leading a parade commemorating the Astrodome’s 50th anniversary. AP981 would stand his Yamaha on the rear wheel racing down the streets in front of the 25,000 fans. This event was wedged between media, at the track by 5am, riding for local television outlets and heading out to Wild West Motorsports for the Yamaha Team Appearance.

On Saturday, it was time to go racing. During the morning practice session, Austin put in an impressive qualifying time earning the 4th gate pick. In the first 250 Heat, the #981 rocketed out of the gate and was with lead pack of riders avoiding carnage on the first few laps. Austin moved into 1st, opened up a sizable lead and when the checkers flew, it was Politelli claiming the first Heat Race win for himself and the 51FIFTY Energy Drink Team.

For all the positive media coverage leading into the weekend and the Heat Race win, the Main Event came up short of expectations. Battling from behind after being pinched off the gate, AP moved past a few riders before crashing hard off the finish line jump. AP was battered, his bike tweaked and the night ended prematurely for AP981.

It was a memorable week with great support by the media for our team and sponsors, a highlight in the career of Austin Politelli, and a milestone for the team. Though extremely sore, Austin expects to be 100% for next weeks round in Santa Clara, CA and reclaim the positive momentum.
